Does this brush really have metal covered bristles?

I bought mine 5 months ago and use it daily. About 5-6 of the plastic tops on my brush have fallen off, which is disappointing since I was expecting it to last for at least a year. The metal bristles do hurt once the plastic tops fall off.

Is this brush actually metal bristles or plastic??

The prongs are metal, with a tiny plastic covered tip. We love these brushes because they seem to go through your hair more easily with the metal bristles.
