I’ve been a fan of illy coffee for years, and their decaffeinated whole beans have completely won me over for those late-afternoon or evening cups when I want the coffee experience without the caffeine jitters. If you’re looking for a premium decaf coffee that doesn’t compromise on taste or aroma, this is as good as it gets. The beans come in illy’s signature pressurised metal tin, which helps preserve freshness and aroma much better than most standard packaging. The tin looks smart on a shelf, and the pop you hear when opening it is always a sign of quality. The roast is medium, leaning toward the darker side of medium, and the beans have a lovely glossy sheen without being oily. The smell when grinding is rich and inviting — hints of chocolate, a touch of nuttiness, and a subtle floral edge. It's hard to believe it’s decaf just by the aroma alone. I brew mine with a bean-to-cup machine and occasionally a French press. In both cases, the results are consistently smooth, well-balanced, and full-flavoured. It doesn’t have that flat or bitter edge that many decaf coffees suffer from — instead, you get a rounded espresso with a soft crema, and notes of cocoa, caramel, and mild fruit. It works wonderfully with milk — in lattes and cappuccinos it holds up well without being overpowered, and in an americano, it remains bold but not harsh. Even when taken black, it remains mellow and enjoyable. One of the key highlights is how smooth it is — no harsh bitterness, no acidity overload. It’s ideal for people who love coffee but want to avoid caffeine for health or lifestyle reasons. In terms of the decaffeination process, illy uses a natural method that retains much of the flavour profile of their standard beans. I’ve compared it side-by-side with their caffeinated version and the difference is subtle — the decaf is maybe slightly milder, but still very much in the same premium league. If I had one tiny complaint, it’s that it is a little more expensive than other decafs on the market, but you’re paying for consistent, premium quality. For me, it’s absolutely worth it. In summary, illy’s decaffeinated beans deliver the full-bodied, smooth flavour that coffee lovers crave — without the caffeine. I usually enjoy Illy coffee beans and have ordered them several times before. The flavor is rich and smooth, and it’s one of my favorites. However, this time the beans tasted a bit stronger and more intense than usual, which caught me by surprise. Still, the quality is good, and I will continue buying it, but I prefer the slightly milder taste I had in previous orders.

Firstly, I have to say that the tin that these beens come in, is nice on it's own. This Illy offee is lovely. I first had some in Detroit in 2025 but didn't realise it was available in the UK. I so glad it is. Whilst it is a stronger coffee, ( in my opinion ) it doesn't have the nasty bitter after taste that others do.

I wasn’t really a coffee drinker until my husband was gifted a machine. While learning how to use this machine I tried a cup. Wow . What a difference to ground coffee jars and the pod system the he used to use. I was converted! Naively had a coffee late evening and found I couldn’t get to sleep until 3/4 am. Illy was so far my favourite so I tried this decaf - and honestly I couldn’t taste any difference. The only change was that I could get to sleep as usual. I’ve since tried various different decaf and always come right back to this one. Made with unhomogonised milk, it’s smooth, velvety and my absolute go to favourite. I wish they sold it in bigger tins like the regular beans.

My first decaf coffee beans from illy Coffee brand, excellent coffee, smells amazing, made in a DeLonghi fully automatic coffee machine, perfect for anytime of day, the arabica beans have lots of medium roast flavour for a decaf, I’m genuinely impressed.

I'm always on the lookout for a new coffee that I love, and I'm happy to say that I've found it in illy's decaffeinated coffee beans. I've tried a few decaf coffees in the past, but they've all lacked flavour. Illy's decaf coffee is different. It's full-flavoured and rich, with a smooth, velvety texture. I love the medium roast with a deep, rich flavour without bitterness. I'm also impressed with the quality of the beans. They're 100% Arabica beans, and they're roasted to perfection. The beans are also packaged in an airtight tin, which helps to keep them fresh. I've been drinking illy's decaf coffee for a few weeks now and am really happy with it. It's a great cup of coffee without worrying about the caffeine. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves coffee. The tin packaging is unsuitable for storage; use a vacuum or airtight jar and use within 2-3 weeks. Used a Picopresso with 18gm dose with a perfect shot, minimal crema observed.
